United Against Crime: Addressing INTERPOL’s 21st Century Challenges

Specialized agency

Founded in 1923, INTERPOL, an international organization,  facilitates worldwide police cooperation and crime control. INTERPOL’s 196 member countries all contribute to enabling police to share data on criminal activity between police forces. The Executive Committee, composed of 13 representatives from different continents, along with the support of experts, are charged with the assignment and supervision of the General Assemblies’ agenda and decisions. At MariMUN 2025, Delegates will explore INTERPOL's vital role in global law enforcement, focusing on its legal framework, operational structure, and international significance. Delegates will consider how to prevent political abuse of INTERPOL, and will debate the perils and advantages of technology within the organization.

Nora Malhi

(she/her)

Hi everyone! My name is Nora, and I am currently completing my BA in Political Science and Art History at McGill. I had the incredible opportunity to serve as the 2023-2024 Secretary-General of MariMUN and am thrilled to return for this year’s conference! My best piece of advice for both new and seasoned delegates at this year’s MariMUN is to never hesitate to try in every aspect of the committee, MUN is meant to be a learning experience and I promise it’s never as scary as it seems at first. Also, MUN is not just about committees, MariMUN gave me some of my best friends, so remember to get to know your peers :)). Looking forward to meeting you all come February!

Alexander Laurin

Hello there! My name is Alexander, and I am also an undergrad at McGill, double-majoring in Politics and Philosophy. Last year, I had a great time serving as the Crisis Director for the Russo-Japanese War joint-crisis committee at MariMUN. My advice for all delegates is to focus on making connections, as committees and the conference generally can gather people with similar interests. Otherwise, try to think on your feet and not over-rely on a script; delegates are often surprised with how much novelty and energy they can bring to the committee when they give themselves the chance:) I look forward to working all together soon!
